Sanyo's high-definition waterproof dual-camera comes with its own underwater scene mode
Let me start of by saying that this is a high-definition waterproof dual-camera. That in itself is worth a nod of approval in Sanyo's direction.
The device is capable of taking 9 megapixel photos and record 720p video underwater - up to a depth 5 feet. Other features include a 5x zoom lens, a 2.5-inch LCD monitor and face detection capabilities.
Audio capture when recording remains crisp though the camera seems more in its element underwater than out of it. It comes with a dedicated splishy splashy scene mode so you get the best colour when in the water for both photos and video.
It's not without drawbacks though. It takes a while to start-up so you could easily miss out on some candid off-the-cuff moments. And it just doesn't seem to produce the same quality of images compared to most standalone digital cameras, especially in low light conditions.
Nevertheless, it's handy, convenient and does the job for the reasonable cost of AED 1,499. Just don't pin your hopes on getting the highest quality HD.
